The Anointing of the Sick is a Sacrament of healing and comfort for those undergoing suffering. It is received when someone is in danger of death, seriously ill, preparing for surgery, or has a general health or mental health condition. This beautiful sacrament can be received multiple times. It is a moment when Christ Himself draws near to strengthen, console, and heal according to His will.
When to request Anointing
Please do not wait until the final hours. The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing and grace for those experiencing serious illness, declining health, an upcoming or recent surgery, the challenges of aging, or a significant health concern. It is not only for those who are near the end of life, but for anyone whose physical, emotional, or spiritual suffering calls for Christ’s healing presence and strength.

When to request Last Rites
Last Rites should be requested when a loved one is nearing the end of life or has entered the final stages of a terminal illness. This allows a priest to offer the prayers and sacraments of the Church, including Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, and Holy Communion as Viaticum, when possible. If death seems near, please contact the parish as soon as you can so we can accompany your loved one in their final moments with the gift of God’s grace.

In an emergency where you need a priest, call the Parish Office at 952-473-4422. After hours, call the same number and select option 6.
When a loved one dies, contact the Parish Office at 952-473-4422, and we will provide pastoral support and begin funeral arrangements with you.
For the homebound and hospitalized
If ongoing illness keeps you or a loved one from Mass, our parish also brings Holy Communion to the homebound and hospitalized; see our Homebound Eucharist page or simply mention it when you call.
