Our Lady of the Rosary

St. Therese once remarked that the Rosary is a long chain that links heaven and earth.  St. Louis de Montfort said, “Never will anyone who says the Rosary every day become a formal heretic or be led astray by the devil.”

Personally, I have found the Rosary a great comfort and a life vest for the challenging winds of life.  Meditating on the life of Christ, Mary can bring you into the heart of her Son.

Given a busy schedule, I often break up the Rosary – two or three decades at a time so that I can pray it every day.  I have been praying the Rosary every day for 25 years.  In 2001, I was struggling from a breakup of a relationship.  Working through it at the Adoration Chapel, a tender little voice said to me, “Pray the Rosary every day and I will keep you close to my Son.”  I have only missed one day since then.  I prayed two Rosaries the next day to make up for it!  J

The promise of Bishop Patrick Boyle provides great encouragement, “No one can live continually in sin and continue to say the Rosary. Either he will give up the sin or he will give up the Rosary.”

The Rosary is time-tested!  There are numerous benefits from praying the Rosary.  Some include:

  • Protection from evil: Our blessed Mother protects you from the evil one as the Woman clothed with the sun (Rev. 12).
  • Inner peace and calm: Your mind and heart are soothed, easing anxiety, and fostering a sense of calm and spiritual peace.
  • Brings hope: Reminds you that Christ will always reign.
  • Keeps us united: The Rosary unites baptized believers in Christ.

Try to do all you can to pray the Rosary every day!  Committing the 15 to 20 minutes to pray the Rosary creates a reliable anchor for your overall prayer life and provides personal peace.  Our Blessed Mother will provide you with interior strength, clarity of mind, and help you cultivate the virtues (especially humility) that you need to grow in Christ.

As she told me kneeling before the Blessed Sacrament years ago, “Pray the Rosary every day and I will keep you close to my Son.”
